I was invited to speak to the Salisbury City Council at its work session this afternoon. Council President Cohen, Council Vice President Campbell, Council memebers Shields, Spies, and Mitchell engaged in a positive conversation surrounding our bike lane plans, funding for the project, and how to move this forward. Mayor Ireton summarized the conversation as a "joyous one", and President Cohen said that this is a project that the whole community can get excited about.
Along with me supporting the plan were SU's Robbie Sheehan, Sea Gull Century Foundation's Amy Waters, and IMBA's Jeff Dean. It was great having everyone take the time to show our elected officials that this is something that our community wants to see happen!!
Several Council members stated that they were glad that we will be holding our Bicycle Friendly Community Workshop on June 6, and they plan to attend and participate in building a better community.
This show of support is in large part due to the overwhelming amount of positive community feedback that the Council recieved from you. Thanks Salisbury!!
See you on the road,
Matt
