Nearly 600 signatures on our petition drive to support bike lanes in Salisbury! We more than met our goal of 500 signatures by Earth Day!
At 6:00 on Sunday April 22, we had 593 signatures on our petition drive that was less than 3 week old.
Great job to everyone who worked hard spread the word about our plan. I was humbled by the words of support that were expressed from some many in the community from many walks of life.
In addition to the many petition signers, we also recieved requests from over 60 people to lend their hands to our work as volunteers! This is fantastic news and timely as we know are moving from ideas to actions, and many hands make light work!
In the next 2 weeks, we will begin forming our plans for short term and long term goals. I see these goals focused around meeting the financial needs of the first phase of our project, finalizing engineering designs for the bike lane layout, and getting further support from key institutions, especially City of Salisbury representatives and elected officials. I will be in contact soon with our volunteers and be able to share more details about opportunities to help.
